The Moon with a halo, over Larch Mountain, Oregon. Winter Solstice 2020
This image began with a drawing which was transferred to a piece of artist's linoleum (a version of the flooring material). The white areas are then cut away with gouges (like a tiny wood chisel but concave) leaving only the areas and lines intended to be black. The block is then inked with a roller and placed in a forme, which is a sort of frame that holds the block in proper alignment with the paper to be printed on. The paper or cardstock is inserted against the registration tabs, felt blankets are laid on top, and the whole set is rolled through my press. the result is a reversed image of the carved block.
Handprinted linocut greeting card, 5" X 7" with envelope on acid-free paper. Cranfield Caligo Safe wash oil-based ink. With glassine sleeve.
This image is hand-printed with a blend of dark blue and indigo inks in a different gradient. Each print has unique colors, but the photo is a decent representation.
